Set in picturesque surroundings, this destination offers history, Romanesque architecture and local traditions, ideal for lovers of nature and culture.
Lintzoain sits in the heart of the Erro Valley as its geographical centre and administrative capital. Tradition places a skirmish of the Battle of Roncesvalles near the village, which still displays the "footprint of Roldán" supposedly left by the legendary knight. The 13th-century Romanesque church and the Camino de Santiago, which runs through the village centre, are particularly noteworthy. A track leads from Lintzoain to Ureta and continues to Mezkiritz. Mezkiritz sits at the foot of the pass of the same name, surrounded by hedges and fields, and includes the neighbourhoods of Txorrondo and Biritxikar. Its civil architecture features houses with gabled roofs. This village and its beautiful landscape host the Bost-kirol festival.
