This charming village offers history, 19th-century architecture and nature trails, ideal for enjoying the local landscapes and traditions.
The village of Erro, capital of the Erro valley, sits beside the River Erro. Its 19th-century houses are relatively modern, as two nearly consecutive fires destroyed the original village. It once featured two palaces: one in the upper section ("suso") and a more prominent one in the lower section ("yuso"). Situated at a crossroads of historic routes—including the Roman road, the Camino de Santiago, and the road to France—Erro sits at the foot of Erro hill, which overlooks the entire valley. Nearby lies Ureta, a historic estate with a palace and a restored mill set in a unique natural environment. From Ureta, a leisurely path leads to the village of Mezkiritz.
