A charming village with traditional architecture, home to artisans and a notable writer. It offers natural beauty and unique sporting competitions.
Mezkiritz sits at the foot of the mountain pass that shares its name, surrounded by hedgerows and fields. This beautiful village includes the neighborhoods of Txorrondo and Biritxikar. Large houses with gabled roofs and buttressed facades characterize its civil architecture. The village is the birthplace of skilled wood craftsmen and the writer Perpetua Saragüeta, a short story author and ethnographic scholar of the region. Set within a beautiful landscape, the village hosts the Bost-kirol, a pelota competition featuring five different game styles in a single match. After a long climb up a concrete track, the route ascends to the Larregain area. Following the signs, it enters the forest along a scenic path that descends the mountain and ends in Esnotz.
