The route enters the magical forest of Basajaunberro, named after Basajaun, the legendary guardian of the forests in Basque mythology. This being of great size and prodigious strength possesses a kind heart, protecting flocks and warning shepherds with shouts and whistles when storms approach or wolves lurk. The trail through the forest runs comfortably and pleasantly, following a short section of the Camino de Santiago that features the historic Pilgrims' Cross. The route also showcases four unique trees: the Hollow Oak, the Pot-bellied Oak, the Burnt Oak, and the Lancer Oak.
