GREAT PYRENEES MOUNTAIN BIKE ROUTE

The route traverses valley of Roncal from north to south, arriving at the valley of Salazar via the village of Vidangoz. From Salazar, the route climbs to the foothills of the Sierra de Abodi and its wide pastures, before descending to the Irati forest and tracing the edge of the beautiful Embalse de Irabia. This section leads into the Valle de Aezkoa, which you follow toward Roncesvalles and the Valle de Erro to enter the Quinto Real forest. Endless trails take you to the town of Zubiri in the Esteribar valley. On reaching the western slopes of the valley, the route turns east, traversing the valleys of the Erro, Arce, and Aezkoa once more, this time navigating the lesser-known southern mountain ranges, the mountains de Areta. This loop returns to the valley of Salazar, along a route lined witth deciduous forests as you head north toward highest peaks of the Pyrenees. Finally, a long descent from Belagua takes you to the valley of Roncal.
