The 16th-century Gothic-Renaissance church presents a sober appearance and features a defensive tower and buttresses. Star-shaped vaults span the interior. Commissioned in 1697, the Churrigueresque main altarpiece dedicated to St James the Apostle marks the first major Baroque work in the Roncal Valley. The altar of the martyrs (1710) also stands out as a special commission financed by Domingo Pérez de Atocha y Maisterra, a distinguished citizen of the village of Garde.
