The Mausoleum of Julián Gayarre (1895), a masterpiece by Mariano Benlliure, earned great acclaim at the Universal Exhibition in Paris (1900) before its installation in the Roncal cemetery. Sculptures in bronze and marble depict the Genius of Fame as the finial, while Harmony and Melody raise the coffin. At the base, the allegory of Music mourns the loss of the tenor beside her broken lyre.
