GR-321-E1: ROYAL ROAD, STAGE 1: BURGUI - ISABA

A linear route through the Roncal Valley, with breathtaking landscapes, Romanesque bridges and historic trails connecting charming villages.

The Camino Real crosses the Roncal Valley from south to north along an interesting linear route, following the paths that once connected the valley's villages. The first stage starts by the Romanesque bridge in Burgui and heads north to the Virgen del Camino chapel, running parallel to the River Esca. Shortly after, the route crosses the NA-137 road and switches banks, continuing north to Roncal, where it crosses the river again to head toward Urzainki along the left bank. From there, the stage's steepest climb follows a beautiful trail before descending into Isaba.
