GREAT PYRENEES HIKING ROUTE - WESTERN LOOP -

Discover majestic forests, history and breathtaking landscapes on a tour that connects iconic locations and offers spectacular views.

Starting in Garaioa or Aribe, the route passes through beech forests north and west to connect with the Collegiate Church of Roncesvalles, a pilgrimage site on the Way of St James. From here, it heads south toward the Erro Valley through Burguete and Espinal. Upon reaching Sorogain, it tracks southwest along the GR 225 "Fuga de Ezkaba" (Escape from Ezkaba). After joining the Camino de Santiago and reaching the Esteribar Valley and the village of Zubiri, the route returns to the Erro Valley, crossing it toward the neighboring Arce Valley. From the village of Arrieta, the it climbs Mount Corona (1386 m) and concludes by descending to the village of Aribe.
