GR-12 STAGE 5: BELATE - AZTAKARRI

This route traverses historical landscapes featuring crónlechs and menhires, combining natural and cultural heritage.

This is a long stage that can be divided into shorter sections, making use of the roads which cross main ridge at Artesiaga and Urkiaga. It coincides with the GR 11 at Bustamorro Pass, before separating at Atalozti Pass above the village of Auritz/Burguete. Due to the refusal of local Baztan residents to grant mining concessions in Erdizaga, the GR 12 retains its original landscape. Cromlechs, menhirs, and vestiges of the "P-line" dot these these mountains, alongside hunting blinds located along the ridgeline.
